The Early Years and Espionage - From Algeria to L.A

Story

PASH’S career in music began with an unlikely invitation.

It was in 1979 that he left an apprenticeship with British Aerospace for the shores of Algeria, asked by American soul singer Scott Sanders from The Realistics to perform and be musical director for his own band Scott Sanders Express, The Realistics where the first to tour the country in front of mixed audiences.

“It was a crazy moment in time; what an introduction to performing live”.

Amphitheatres and football stadiums filled with disco, reggae and soul blurred into one as the band whistled along the North African coastline, from Constantine to Zeralda and back to Algiers, PASH lending a hand on keyboard, backing vocals and songwriting along the way.

It was to be the beginning of a life in music, and after six weeks of packed audiences, smoky market alleyways and surreal beachfront trips along the Mediterranean, PASH left Algeria with Scott’s parting advice ringing in his ears; that he should consider a career as a vocalist and songwriter.
